Film Festival Information
There is no theme tied to the film festival this year. The theme is yours to choose. Each school has the opportunity to submit five films into the film festival, with no more than two entries in a category. If a school has more than five entries, the principal, faculty, and school Ed Tech Specialist can work together to choose the school's top five entries. Schools may choose to hold their own site-based film festival to determine which of their entries will continue on to the District festival. When submitting film festival entries, you must also include one entry form per film. Teachers must sign the entry form to verify that students involved in each film project have not opted out of the Canyons School District Uniform Media Release. An Information Release Form is required for each person involved in the film who is not a current Canyon School District student.
Film festival entries that break copyright, do not contain proper credits, or do not have proper media and information releases for each person involved in the film will not be considered for Canyons District Film Festival awards. If you have copyright and permissions questions, please contact your school's Educational Technology Specialist or email Katie Blunt at kathryn.blunt@canyonsdistrict.org. You may also visit our copyright page for more information.
Students, films for the film festival can be projects you have created specifically for the festival, or projects created for class assignments and other events, like the District Reflections program. You can create your films at school or at home. Either way, the work needs to be your own. If you like to create films, this is your opportunity to showcase your talents!
Teachers, since there is no theme assigned to the film festival you can have your students create films as part of your classroom curriculum. Also, many of you are very talented when it comes to creating films. This is your chance to share your creations.
We look forward to viewing all of the film entries. If you have any questions or concerns please contact Educational Technology Specialist Katie Blunt at kathryn.blunt@canyonsdistrict.org.
